Over 11 cr vaccine jabs given on 4th day of Tika Utsav

New Delhi, Apr 14 (MNN) India registered a record 1,84,372 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours and 1,027 deaths even as 11,11,79,578 vaccine doses had been administered till 7 am on Wednesday, the government said.

India’s total active caseload has reached 13,65,704, comprising 9.84 per cent of the total positive cases. A net incline of 1,01,006 cases was recorded from the total active caseload in the last 24 hours.

Over 40 lakh vax doses were administered in the last 24 hours. Eight states accounted for 60.16 per cent of the total doses given so far through 16,53,488 sessions.
Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Rajasthan have shown a rise in daily cases, accounting for 82.04 per cent of the new cases.

Maharashtra led with 60,212 new cases, followed by Uttar Pradesh at 17,963 and Chhattisgarh at 15,121.

Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala cumulatively account for 68.16 per cent of India’s total active cases. Maharashtra alone accounts for 43.54% of the total active caseload of the country.

On day 88 of the vaccination drive (April 13), 26,46,528 doses were given, during which 22,58,910 beneficiaries were inoculated across 44,643 sessions for 1st dose and 3,87,618 beneficiaries received 2nd dose of vaccine.

The beneficiaries include 90,48,686 healthcare workers who took the 1st dose and 55,81,072 who took the 2nd dose, 1,01,36,430 frontline workers (1st dose), 50,10,773 frontline workers (2nd dose), 4,24,66,354 1st dose beneficiaries and 24,67,484 2nd dose beneficiaries who are aged over 60 and 3,56,50,444 (1st dose) and 8,18,335 (2nd dose) aged between 45 and 60.

In another milestone on Wednesday, India crossed 26 crore tests to reach 26,06,18,866, including 14,11,758 in the last 24 hours. The daily capacity has been ramped up to 15 lakh tests.

India’s cumulative recoveries stand at 1,23,36,036 on Wednesday, denoting a recovery rate of 88.92 per cent. As many as 82,339 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours.

Ten states accounted for 86.08 per cent of the latest corona deaths, including Maharashtra with maximum 281 and Chhattisgarh with 156 casualties.

Eleven states/UTs did not report COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours — Ladakh, D&D & D&N, Tripura, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Lakshadweep, A&N Islands, and Arunachal Pradesh.
