Bengaluru, Apr 16 (MNN) Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Friday said that he had tested positive for coronavirus.
“Upon having mild fever, I got tested today for Covid-19 and my report has come out positive. Although I am doing fine, I am being hospitalised based on the advice of doctors. I request all those who have come in my contact recently to be observant and exercise self-quarantine,” he tweeted.
Earlier, a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office said: “After the CM had fever, he was taken for a check-up to the Ramaiah Hospital. His test result returned positive and he is being shifted to the Manipal Hospital.”
The CM earlier held an emergency meeting in the morning in the Karnataka capital to review coronavirus situation in the southern state.
Yediyurappa had had tested positive earlier in August 2020. He had been administered the first dose of coronavirus vaccine on March 12, 2021.
He joins a long list of politicians who have tested positive in the recent past.
On April 14, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said he had tested corona positive. Samajwadi party leader Akhilesh Yadav too had said that same day that he had also tested positive and was in self-isolation.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan tested corona positive on April 8, while his predecessor and Congress leader Oommen Chandy turned Covid-19 positive on April 8.
Tripura Chief Minister and BJP leader Biplab Kumar Deb announced on April 7 about his corona positive status.
In Tamil Nadu, DMK MP Kanimozhi tested positive on April 3.
Delhi Minister Kailash Gahlot tested positive on April 14, while Maharashtra Minister Aditya Thackeray tested positive on March 20.
Union Minister Sanjeev Balyan said on April 11 that he was coronavirus positive.
