Bhubaneswar, Apr 21 (MNN) The Odisha government said on Wednesday that 4,851 new coronavirus cases had been reported in the eastern state, taking the active cases to 30,927.
As per the latest report for April 20, as many as 1,740
more recoveries took the total recovered patients to 3,49,377.
After cumulative tests of 97,06,949 persons, as many as 3,82,315 were found to be infected by the virus so far. A total of 2,814 patients are presently in quarantine.
District-wise new cases reported by the respective authorities are Angul 111, Balasore 52, Bargarh 318, Bhadrak 73, Balangir 227, Boudh 22, Cuttack 304, Deogarh 35, Dhenkanal 31, Gajapati 35, Ganjam 151, Jagatsinghpur 39, Jajpur 64, Jharsuguda 290, Kalahandi 79, Kandhamal 27, Kendrapada 58, Keonjhar 166, Khurda 703, Koraput 62, Malkangiri 31, Mayurbhanj 78, Nawarangpur 194, Nayagarh 66, Nuapada 486, Puri 223, Rayagada 85, Sambalpur 171, Sonepur 9, Sundargarh 516, and state pool 145.
Meanwhile, the Odisha Public Services Commission has decided to reschedule the recruitment test for the posts of Assistant Surgeon from April 25 (Sunday) to April 28 (Wednesday) in view of the complete weekend lockdown announced by the state government in urban areas.
The candidates have been asked to adhere to all COVID-19 protocols, wear face masks, use sanitisers, and maintain social distancing at the centres. Their seating arrangements have also been done as per the health guidelines.
The commission said that the examination centres and the number of candidates remain unchanged, except for the Silicon Institute which has now been replaced by GITA at state capital Bhubaneswar.
Roll numbers assigned to the Silicon Institute will now be asked to appear for the test at GITA. Details are available on the commission website opsc.gov.in.
