Over 3.32 lakh new corona cases in India, 2,263 more deaths

New Delhi, Apr 23 (MNN) India has recorded 3,32,730 new coronavirus cases even as its cumulative vaccination figures crossed 13.54 crore in the last 24 hours, the government said on Friday. A total of 2,263 deaths were reported during the period.

India’s active caseload now totals 24,28,616, which is 14.93 per cent of the country’s total positive cases (over 1.63 crore) reported so far. A net incline of 1,37,188 cases was recorded from the total active caseload in the last 24 hours.

On April 22, as many as 3,14,835 new coronavirus cases were reported in the 24- hour cycle, along with 2,104 more fatalities.

As per the latest government figures now, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Rajasthan reported 75.01 per cent of the new cases as of Friday.

Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala cumulatively accounted for 59.12 per cent of India’s total active cases.

Maharashtra reported the highest 67,013 new cases, followed by Uttar Pradesh with 34,254 and Kerala with 26,995.

Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajashtan, Karnataka, Kerala, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, and Bihar displayed an upward trajectory in daily new cases.

Ten states accounted for 81.79 per cent of the new deaths.

Maharashtra saw the maximum 568 deaths, followed by Delhi with 306. The National Mortality Rate has been falling and currently stands at 1.15 per cent.

As many as 1,93,279 more recoveries in the last 24 hours took India’s cumulative recoveries to 1,36,48,159. The National Recovery Rate is 83.92 per cent.

D&D & D&N, Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Lakshadweep, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh did not report any COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The cumulative vaccine doses administered in the country are 13,54,78,420 through 19,38,184 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on Friday. Over 31 lakh vaccination doses were administered in the last 24 hours.

These include 92,42,364 healthcare workers given the 1st dose and another 59,04,739 given the 2nd dose, 1,17,31,959 frontline workers (1st dose), 60,77,260 (2nd dose), 4,85,34,810 1st dose beneficiaries and 65,21,662 2nd dose beneficiaries aged more than 60 and 4,55,64,330 (1st dose) and 19,01,296 (2nd dose) beneficiaries aged 45 to 60.

Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajashtan, Karnataka, and Kerala accounted for 59.08 per cent of the cumulative doses given so far in the country.

On Day 97 of the vaccination drive (April 22), 31,47,782 vaccine doses were given, including 19,25,873 vaccinated across 28,683 sessions for 1st dose and 12,21,909 given the 2nd dose.
