Kabul, Apr 25 (MNN) Afghanistan’s Defence Ministry said on Sunday that dozens of Taliban fighters had been killed in Ghazni and Laghman provinces of the country.
The MoD said in a statement said that Afghan security forces, backed by air support, clashed with the Taliban militants in Muqur and Gilan districts of Ghazni province, and in Raheen and Gomba areas of Alishsheng district in Laghman province, the Khaama news agency said.
It said 20 Taliban fighters were killed in Ghazni and 12 others in Laghman province.
Six Taliban fighters were reported injured in Ghazni province, and their weapons and ammunition destroyed by the ANDSF.
Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid tweeted that an Afghan security forces convoy was hit by IED in the Tasang area of Deh Yak district in Ghazni province on Saturday, in which three APCs were destroyed, 3 security personnel killed and another injured.
The Ministry also tweeted on Sunday that 90 Taliban fighters were killed and 17 others were wounded in Laghman, Nangarhar, Wardak, Badghis, Helmand, and Kandahar province of Afghanistan during the past 24 hours.
The Ministry said that ANDSF seized 37 IEDs and destroyed a large number of weapons and ammunition.
A Taliban car bombing incident was thwarted by Afghan special forces in Kandahar province. Taliban had planned to carry out a car bombing in Panjwai district on Saturday night.
