New Delhi, Apr 27 (MNN) The Human Rights Watch has accused Israeli authorities of committing “crimes against humanity of apartheid and persecution”.
In a 213-page report, the global advocacy group said that the overall Israeli policy toward Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem constituted an “agenda to maintain Jewish Israeli domination as well as systematically oppress the Palestinians”.
The organisation said that “this is the most stark finding Human Rights Watch has ever reached on the conduct of Israeli authorities”.
Report’s author Omar Shakir, who is HRW’s Israel and Palestine Director, told Today’s WorldView that “for too long, the international community has failed to recognise the reality on the ground for what it is.”
Shakir pointed out that HRW was hardly the only body to arrive at this conclusion.
On its Facebook page, the rights body said: “Israeli officials are committing the crimes of apartheid and persecution. The world needs to act on behalf of the millions of Palestinians being institutionally discriminated against.”
