Geneva, Apr 27 (MNN) The WHO has said that India’s situation was “beyond heartbreaking” in the wake of a surge in coronavirus cases and deaths.

“The WHO is doing everything we can, providing critical equipment and supplies, including thousands of oxygen concentrators, prefabricated mobile field hospitals and laboratory supplies,” World Health Organisation Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a press briefing in Geneva.

India on Tuesday reported over 3.23 lakh new cases and 2,771 more deaths due to coronavirus.

The WHO chief also said that the world health body had shifted over 2,600 experts from its programmes, including on polio and tuberculosis, to work with health authorities in India to help tackle the pandemic.
