Weekend lockdown in 9 Haryana districts from 10 pm on April 30

Chandigarh, Apr 30 (MNN) Weekend lockdown has been imposed in Panchkula, Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Rohtak, Karnal, Hisar, Sirsa and Fatehabad districts of Haryana.

In exercise of the powers vested under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, Chief Secretary Vijai Vardhan ordered that the lockdown would be from 10 pm on April 30 till 5 am on May 3.

Any person violating these containment measures would be liable to be proceeded against as per Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, besides Section 188 of the IPC and other laws.

Movement of certain persons and services shall be exempted — those tasked with law and order, emergencies and municipal services, Executive Magistrates, police/military/CAPF personnel in uniform, health, electricity, fire, media persons with accreditation and government machinery tasked with COVID-19 related duties (all on production of identity cards).

Movement would be allowed for appearing in examinations and examination duties on production of admit/identity cards.

There shall be no curbs on those engaged in manufacture of essential goods, inter- and intra-state movement of essential and non-essential goods.

All vehicles or persons in bona fide transit shall be allowed to pass, but only after verification of point of origin of journeys and destinations.

Hospitals, veterinary hospitals and related medical establishments, including manufacturing and distribution units, dispensaries, chemist, pharmacies, medical equipment shops, laboratories, pharmaceutical research labs, clinics, nursing homes, ambulance etc will continue to function normally.

Transport for all medical personnel, nurses, para-medical staff, other hospital support services would be permitted.

Telecommunications, Internet, broadcasting and cable services. IT and IT-enabled services, delivery of essential goods like food, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment etc through e-commerce would be exempted.

Petrol pumps, LPG, petroleum and gas retail and storage outlets, power generation, transmission and distribution units and services, cold stores and warehousing services, private security services, farming operations by farmers and farmworkers in fields and ATMs were also exempted.

Restaurants, other eating places, hotels, food joints and courts in various malls can remain open but only for home delivery.

Intra- and inter-state movement of harvesting and sowing-related machines like harvesters and other agricultural and horticultural implements was also allowed.

Passengers going to or returning from airports or railway stations or bus stations shall be exempted.

All marriage functions with prior permission from District Magistrates or officers concerned shall be allowed with maximum 50 per cent of the hall capacity and a ceiling of 30 attendees indoors and 50 outdoors.
