New Delhi, May 4 (MNN) Even as the Railways is running Oxygen Express trains to ferry medical oxygen to Delhi to help fight the coronavirus battle, DRDO will set up five MO plants within the first week of May in and around Delhi.
These plants will come up at AIIMS Trauma Centre, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Safdarjung Hospital, Lady Hardinge Medical College, and one at AIIMS in Jhajjar in Haryana.
As per the schedule, two plants reached Delhi on May 4, and the process to install these at AIIMS and RML Hospitals is likely to be completed by tonight.
The supplier Trident Pneumatics Pvt Ltd of Coimbatore is a technology partner of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and given an order for 48 plants.
It is pertinent to mention here that PM-Cares has allocated funds for the installation of 500 medical oxygen Plants across the country within three months.
Orders for 332 plants have been placed with Tata Advanced Systems Limited, which will begin delivery from mid–May.
These plants, once set up, will overcome the logistics issues of oxygen transportation and help COVID-19 patients in emergency. The CSIR has also ordered 120 oxygen plants through its industries.
