Stalin sworn in as TN CM; 33 Ministers too take oath

Chennai, May 7 (MNN) DMK President MK Stalin was on Friday sworn in as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu by Governor Banwarilal Purohit.

As many as 33 Ministers were also administered the oath of office and secrecy at the swearing-in held on the Raj Bhavan lawns here.

DMK MPs Kanimozhi and Dayanidhi Maran, Stalin’s family, state Congress chief KS Alagiri, and MDMK leader Vaiko were among the prominent persons present at the function.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted: “Congratulations to Thiru
@mkstalin on taking oath… My best wishes to him for his tenure.”

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also tweeted his congratulations.

“Dear @mkstalin, as you take on your new responsibilities as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, let me wish you great success. I hope that we can further deepen the fraternal love that Keralites and Tamilians have shared for centuries, and work together for a better India.”

In the 234-member Assembly, the DMK won 133 seats, Congress 18, opposition AIADMK 66, PMK 5 and BJP bagged 4.
