Record high 4,529 corona deaths in India, over 2.67 lakh new cases

New Delhi, May 19 (MNN) India on Wednesday reported a record high 4,529 more coronavirus deaths in the last 24 hours, even as 2,67,334 new cases were reported, the Health Ministry data showed.

There are 32,26,719 active cases in the country, a net decrease of 1,27,046 over the earlier figure. It is 12.66 per cent of the total positive cases.

The death toll increased to 2,83,248, which is 1.11 per cent of the total over 2.54 crore positive cases.

The discharge cases increased to 2,19,86,363, including 3,89,851 reported in the last 24 hours. The discharge cases are 86.23 per cent of the total cases.

As per the data collated till 8 am on May 19, 18,58,09,302 vaccination doses have been administered, including 13,12,155 in the last 24 hours.

Assam, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal were among the few states which recorded a net increase in active cases over the past 24 hours.

Assam recorded an increase of 1,451 patients to take its active cases to 47,740 while the discharge cases increased by 4,311 to 2,90,774. Seventy-three more fatalities took the eastern state’s death toll to 4,311.

Tamil Nadu recorded an increase of 11,333 patients to take its active cases to 2,42,929 while 364 fatalities took its death toll to 18,369. The discharge cases increased by 21,362 to 14,03,052.

In West Bengal, 233 more cases took the active case to 1,31,793 while discharge cases increased to 10,26,492 as 19,050 more recoveries were recorded in 24 hours. The death toll went up to 13,576 due to 145 more casualties.

Maharashtra recorded a net decrease of 25,751 active cases to 4,22,249 while discharge cases went up to 49,27,480 due to 52,898 more recoveries. The death toll in the western state increased to 83,777 as 1,291 more persons died.

Karnataka’s active cases totalled 5,75,049 due to decrease by 28,611 while the discharge cases went up to 16,74,487 as 58,395 more patients recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours. A total of 525 more fatalities took the southern state’s death toll to 22,838.

In Kerala, the active cases went down by 14,686 to 3,47,989. The discharge cases increased to 18,46,105 as 45,926 more patients recovered. The death toll in Kerala is 6,612 as 97 more casualties were recorded.

In Uttar Pradesh, active cases total 1,36,342, a decrease of 12,690 while the discharge cases went up by 21,108 to 14,83,249. The northern state’s corona death toll is 18,072 due to 255 more fatalities.

Delhi has 50,863 active cases, a decrease of 5,186 patients. The discharge cases total 13,29,899 with the recovery of 9,403 more patients. The death toll went up by 265 to 22,111 in the national capital in the last 24 hours.
