New Delhi, May 29 (MNN) The Delhi government on Saturday said that the coronavirus lockdown imposed in the national capital had been extended by a week till June 7.

On Friday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had announced that the lockdown would be gradually relaxed even though the new cases and corona deaths had witnessed a decline.

Even as factories and construction sector activities have been allowed to resume from Monday, essential activities and services will continue to be exempt as earlier.
E-passes issued for movement of persons connected with essential goods and services will continue to hold good.

Manufacturing units within closed premises in approved industrial areas will be allowed to resume activities, as also construction activities at sites, subject to certain healthcare precautions and conditions — asymptomatic workers only to be allowed to work; staggering work and business hours for social distancing; adherence to Covid-appropriate behaviour; provision of thermal screening, hand wash and sanitisers preferably with touch-free mechanisms at entry and exit points; and sanitisation of work areas and common facilities etc.

Those violating the conditions would be shut again and liable to legal action.

District Magistrates have been directed to ensure random testing and to check adherence to safety norms at manufacturing units and construction sites regularly across Delhi. Police would ensure no unnecessary movement on Delhi roads.
