Chandigarh/Ludhiana, May 31 (MNN) Punjab Police said on Monday that it has arrested one more accomplice of absconding drug smuggler and gangster Jaipal Bhullar, who is the prime accused in the sensational killing of CIA Assistant Sub-Inspectors Bhagwan Singh and Dalwinderjit Singh on May 15.
A .32-bore countrymade pistol, 3 cartridges, two motorcycles and a car have been seized from Lucky Rajput alias Lucky of New Pratap Nagar in Ludhiana after his arrest at the Khanpur Canal bridge.
He had had actively assisted the killers of the two ASIs — gunned down in the Jagraon grain market — in fleeing from the state, police claimed.
Two days ago, police had announced the arrest of two main accused, Darshan Singh and Baljinder Singh from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh.
Police said Lucky was convicted in a murder case in 2008 and was wanted by Dehlon police in a car-snatching case in November 2020.
Lucky told police during questioning that he along with Bhullar, Darshan, and Baljinder had snatched an i10 car (PB10EU-0110) at gunpoint from Malerkotla Road under Dehlon police station jurisdiction in Ludhiana in November 2020.
Lucky was also wanted in the kidnapping case of Mohali resident Pritpal Singh on December 12, 2020, thrashed him and demanded a ransom of Rs 1.5 crore.
However, after Pritpal’s condition deteriorated, the gang left with his car after snatching Rs 86,000 from him.
In another case, Lucky, Darshan, Gagandeep, and Jaspreet had threatened prime witnesses in the Banur bank cash van robbery case against testifying against Jaipal and his accomplices in court.
