Bihar extends lockdown restrictions till June 8; relaxations for shops, businesses

Patna, May 31 (MNN) The Bihar government has extended the coronavirus lockdown in the eastern state till June 8, albeit with certain relaxations.

“The lockdown has been extended by a week till June 8. But relaxations are being given for business and trade. All people should wear marks and maintain social distance,” Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar tweeted on Monday.

The lockdown extension comes in the wake of a meeting of the Crisis Management Group in the state.

As per the new guidelines applicable from June 2 to 8, all government offices will open with 25 per cent staff strength till 4 pm daily.

All shops and other business establishments will remain open from 6 am to 2 pm on alternate days, with shopkeepers and customers wearing face masks. The shopkeepers will also ensure availability of hand sanitisers on their premises.

The District Magistrates will decide on the days shops dealing in different commodities will open.

Shops dealing in fertilisers and pesticides, PDS, meat-fish and fruits and vegetable will also remain open from 6 am to 2 pm.

The authorities will shut down shops violating the mask and social distance norms.

Earlier instructions on restrictions on the number of attendees at marriages, ‘shradh’, vehicle movement during the lockdown will continue.
