Over 57 lakh vaccine doses given in Haryana so far

Chandigarh, June 1 (MNN) More than 57 lakh coronavirus vaccine doses have been given to various categories of beneficiaries in Haryana till date as part of the state government endeavour to achieve 100 per cent vaccination.

A Health Department spokesperson said that the state aims to administer vaccines to 1.76 crore beneficiaries, including 1.05 crore in the 18-44 age group and remaining 71 lakh in 45-60 age group and above.

Thus, of the nearly 3.5 crore doses to be administered to 1.76 crore beneficiaries, as many as 57,11,985 doses have already been administered. It accounts for 16 per cent of the targeted doses.

As much as Rs 316 crore has been released by the state for vaccines that were administered free of cost to people while the remaining vaccines costing about Rs 484 crore will be obtained soon.

Haryana is among the few states that are giving free vaccines to 18 years and above.

A state-level Steering Committee has been constituted for the smooth rollout and implementation of the vaccination process ever since the nationwide drive was launched on January 16.

In the first and second phases, healthcare and frontline workers were given the jabs, and a majority of vaccination centres made operational in areas with high concentration of this category of beneficiaries.

The state has already administered vaccines to 82 per cent of its HCWs and 82 per cent of the FLWs.

In the third phase, vaccination of those between 45 and 60 years with comorbidities and above 60 was started.
