New Delhi, June 14 (MNN) The controversy over the alleged scam in the purchase of land by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirath Trust continued on Monday as Aam Aadmi Party demanded that the trust overseeing the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya give an account of the donations received from the devotees.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, a senior Aam Aadmi Party leader, along with party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh claimed at a press conference here that 12,080 acres of land bought by the Trust was a “big fraud”.

“The Trust bought 12,080 acres of land worth Rs 18.5 crore on March 18, 2021. The land was bought from Ravi Mohan Tiwari and Sultan Ansari in the presence of Anil Mishra and Ayodhya Mayor Rishikesh Upadhyay, who are members of this Trust.

“Many people have donated money towards the construction of the temple in Ayodhya, whether a farmer who took out some money from their earnings or a labourer who used up his earnings to donate for the religious cause.

“Buying of more land for temple construction is a matter of pride for most people but this pride has now turned into disappointment and shame, considering that BJP leaders have used the money donated for the Ram temple for their personal means,” Sisodia claimed.

Sisodia pointed out that Anil Mishra and BJP leader Rishikesh Upadhyay were witness to both land transactions.

“Can land price increase from Rs 2 crore to Rs 18.5 crore within five minutes? People donated money to be a part of the construction of a resplendent Ram Temple, but the BJP has just made their faith and trust a joke. This land scam is a clear case of corruption and a black day for all followers of Lord Ram.”

Sanjay Singh said: “The BJP leaders immediately came to the defence of all those involved in the scam…. They should now declare how much they earned from this scam. It is crystal clear that the Mayor has a big role to play. The Trust should give a full account of the money received through donations from people.”

Sanjay Singh accused Trust General Secretary Champat Rai of lying on the land price increase. “BJP leaders will have to give an expalantions to the people. If they do not even know the original land price, why have they done such a big fraud?” the AAP MP said.
