New Delhi, June 15 (MNN) Claiming dismal law and order in Uttar Pradesh, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday wrote to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to demand a CBI inquiry into the murder of a news channel.
She also demanded financial aid to the bereaved family.
ABP New reporter Sulabh Srivastava was found dead with a head injury under mysterious circumstance on June 13.
A day earlier, he had written to the Additional Director General of Police (Prayagraj Zone) to express apprehension about threat to his life from the liquor mafia, whose activities he had reported earlier.
Priyanka also mentioned the deaths of number of persons due to illicit liquor in Aligarh and Pratapgarh in recent times.
She said that apprehensions expressed by the journalist after showing reports on liquor mafia indicates that the law and order in the northern state had collapsed.
The Congress leader pointed out that attacks on journalists had been reported earlier in Ballia and Unnao as well.
Pointing out that the security of journalists was the duty of the state, she said she hoped that the Chief Minister will take positive steps to ensure justice to Srivastava’s family.
