Chandigarh, June 16 (MNN) With coronavirus cases decreasing in Punjab, state Sports Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi on Wednesday directed the Sports Department to throw open all stadiums to players aiming to participate in national and international events.
Directions have been issued to District Sports Officers about the decision to allow such sportspersons to practice in open stadiums in the presence of their coaches amid compliance with health guidelines.
Meanwhile, Sports Director DPS Kharbanda said that Punjab was putting emphasis on mental as well as physical fitness of players in the run-up to international competitions.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Government will hold a virtual get-together on June 18 with 25 Olympics qualifier and their parents in the state, from the offices of Deputy Commissioners concerned.
All District Sports Officers have been directed to ensure that the Olympic qualifiers from Punjab do not face paucity of anything in their preparations for the global event and to provide immediate assistance to the players by informing the headquarters, if required.
