New Delhi, June 21 (MNN) Afghanistan’s Ambassador to New Delhi, Farid Mamundzay has been elected as a cricket board member by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in place of senior player Mohammad Nabi.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board said Mamundzay’s appointment will help the ACB strengthen its bilateral cricketing relations, find sponsors and other important affairs in India, which in addition to the UAE serves as one of the countries where team Afghanistan play their home matches.

The decision to relieve Nabi from his duties as Board member was taken in view of Afghanistan’s coming busy international calendar, where he will play a vital role as senior-most all-rounder for the national team.
