Srinagar, June 28 (MNN) Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday paid obeisance at the Amarnath shrine and sought divine blessings for good health and happiness for everyone.
The Lt Governor, who is also Chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, was accompanied by senior officers of the Army, civil administration, police and shrine board. He performed a ‘pooja’ at the shrine.
“May the divine blessings of Lord Shiva ensure good health and happiness in everyone’s life and bless us with strength to overcome the ongoing health crisis,” the Lt Governor said.
In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the annual holy yatra to the shrine has been cancelled. However, respecting the sentiments of devotees, the shrine board has arranged for live telecast of morning and evening ‘aarti’ at the holy cave on the official website and aap.
All religious rituals are performed at the holy cave shrine as per the past practice, the Lt Governor said.
The J&K government said it had taken a slew of measures to ensure Covida-appropriate behaviour during ‘aarti’ and other rituals.
The devotees can pay virtual obeisance at the ice ‘lingam’ through the shrine board’s link www.shriamarnathjishrine.com/AartiLive.html. The same may also be streamed through the shrine board’s mobile application that can be downloaded from http://play.google.com/store/apps/details.
The Lt Governor was accompanied by Lt Gen DP Pandey, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 15 Corps; Pandurang K Pole, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir; Dr Piyush Singla, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag; Abdul Jabbar, DIG South Kashmir Range (SKR); Anup Kumar Soni, Additional Chief Executive Officer, SASB; and officers of Army, police, CRPF and shrine board.
