London, July 6 (MNN) Colin James Crooks has been appointed UK Ambassador to the Republic of Korea in succession to Simon Smith who will be retiring from the diplomatic service, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said on Tuesday.
Crooks will take up his appointment during early 2022.
He is presently posted in North Korean capital Pyongyang since 2018 and remained in Beijing as Minister Counsellor from 2015 to 2018. From 2011 to 2015m, he was Deputy Head of Mission on EU Delegation to Jakarta, and later Chargé d’Affaires (on loan to European External Action Service).
During his career, he was posted in Washington as First Secretary at the UK Embassy from 2002 to 2006.
