Chandigarh, July 15 (MNN) Bandaru Dattatreya on Thursday took oath as the 18th Governor of Haryana. Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Ravi Shankar Jha administered the oath of office and confidentiality to Dattatreya at the Raj Bhavan here.
A contingent of Haryana Armed Police presented a Guard of Honour to the Governor on the occasion.
Dattatreya has been a three-time Minister and four-time MP. He has been a Union Minister of State for Urban Development in the past.
From 2002 to 2003, he was Union Minister of State for Railways and from 2003 to 2004 the Union Minister of State for Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation (Independent Charge).
In 2019, he was appointed the Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
The new Governor met the dignitaries who attended the oath-taking ceremony and accepted their greetings.
The Governor’s wife Bandaru Vasantha, daughter Bandaru Vijayalakshmi and their family members and relatives were also present.
Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal, Haryana Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala, Home and Health Minister Anil Vij, many state Minister, MLAs and senior officials were among those present at the swearing-in ceremony.
