New Delhi, July 27 (MNN) Lauding the efforts of doctors and healthcare personnel in their fight against the coronavirus pandemic, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Tuesday that his government would recommend only the names of such personnel to the Indian government for the Padma awards this year.

He said that doctors and healthcare personnel had done commendable work in tackling the pandemic, adding that it is for the public to recommend the names of such persons for the nation’s highest civilian awards.

Kejriwal said that any resident of Delhi could send in his or her recommendations on padmaawards.delhi@gmail.com along with the description and details of why the recommendation had been made.

The recommendation of names of doctors and other healthcare professionals/personnel should be sent by August 15, so that a screening committee headed by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia could go through the list and decide on the names to be forwarded to the Indian government, the Chief Minister said.

The last date for sending the nominations to the central government is September 15, 2021.
