Badminton: Sindhu raises medal hopes as she sails into quarter-finals

Tokyo, July 29 (MNN) Indian shuttler PV Sindhu defeated Denmark’s Mia Blichfeldt 2-0 in straight games to enter the quarter-finals of the Tokyo 2020 here on Thursday, raising the prospects of another medal for the country.

Rio Olympics 2016 silver medalist and 6th seed Sindhu defeated 13th seed Blichfeldt 21-15, 21-13 in 41 minutes in the Round of 16 match of Tokyo 2020 women’s singles badminton.

Sindhu will next face the winner of the match between South Korea’s Kim Gaeun and Akane Yamaguchi of Japan.
