Chandigarh, Sep 3 (MNN) In order to help students who lost their earning parents to the coronavirus pandemic, the JC Bose University of Science and Technology at Faridabad has decided to offer one supernumerary seat and fee waiver to them in all university level UGC- approved courses from 2021-22 session.
The university has invited online applications from such students by September 25.
University Vice Chancellor Dinesh Kumar said that as part of its social commitments, the institution had a responsibility to help such students who were facing financial hardships to continue their studies. The university will not charge any tuition fee for such students.
During the lockdown, the varsity had introduced a policy to support economically weaker and needy students with waiver or refund of tuition fee up to 100 per cent.
As many as 153 students have already availed of the financial benefit under the policy.
To encourage girl students to pursue higher education, the university has been offering one supernumerary seat to single girl child.
Director (Admissions) Maneesha Garg said the university had added one supernumerary seat in UGC-approved courses. To claim admission under supernumerary quota, Garg said, interested students will have to apply online through website www.jcboseust.com by September 25 along with registration fee of Rs 100 only, which is Rs 1,000 for other students.
Admission portal nopaperform.com has also waived the processing fee of Rs 75, she added.
Garg said that only those students will be eligible to avail the facility at JC Bose University who have passed the qualified examination and can produce death certificates of his or her working parent citing Covid-19 as the reason of death.
Also, an affidavit will be required stating that the other parent is not working. The benefit will be extended to the new entrant students only from the academic session 2021, she added.
