Shimla, Sep 8 (MNN) Charging stations and charging points would be set up at petrol pumps and other places across Himachal to facilitate and encourage people to use electric vehicles under the Electric Vehicle Policy, Transport Minister Bikram Singh has said.
Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board has been identified as the nodal agency for this purpose, Singh said during a meeting with senior department officers to review the progress of development projects on Wednesday.
He said that Himachal would be developed as a model state in the use of electric vehicles, pointing out that these would benefit in environmental conservation and sustainable development apart from creating employment opportunities.
A detailed discussion on establishing transport town and driving training and inspection centre at Nadaun was also held in the meeting. The Minister directed officers to prepare a detailed project report in this regard.
A state-level committee would be constituted in the state under Swaran Jayanti Parivahan Yojana on September 22, 2021 to provide approval to various ambulance roads. The process to provide approval to 300 ambulance roads has already been started.
An Inspection and Automatic Vehicle Testing Centre would be established at a cost of Rs 16.35 crore at Baddi.
