New Delhi, Nov 1 (MNN) Even as Punjab on Tuesday announced reduced power tariffs for certain categories of domestic consumers, Aam Aadmi Party that the “hollow promise of cheap electricity” is an “electoral stunt of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
“The electricity rates have been reduced only till March 31, 2022 and if Punjab people get deceived by this electoral stunt of the ruling Congress, electricity rates will go up again after that date. Channi’s promise is like his predecessor Amarinder Singh’s fake promise of employment — there is no difference between them,” AAP MLA Raghav Chadha alleged.
“If it is not an election stunt, then make electricity cheaper in other Congress-ruled states like Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra too,” Chadha dared the Congress leadership.
The AAP leader claimed that Channi was “terrified” due to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s ‘bijli guarantee’, due to which he was now holding out false promises to the people of Punjab on the issue of electricity.
“Channi is working to hoodwink the public, to mislead them. In Congress’ four and half years of rule in Punjab, despite having a huge mandate, they proved to be the most incompetent and ineffective government. Throughout their term, no MLA or Ministers or even CM left the comforts of their luxurious homes to do their job — to help the public.
“All these years since 2017, people of Punjab were sold the most expensive electricity in the country; they were looted by the Congress government. Now that elections are close, they are misleading the people of Punjab,” the AAP leader alleged.
He asserted that Channi and Congress knew very well that Aam Aadmi Party is headed to form the next government in Punjab after the 2022 Assembly elections.
