Istanbul (Turkey), Nov 12 (MNN) AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships slated to be held from December 6 to 19 here have been postponed to March 2022.
The AIBA said it had been working hard to maintain the event schedule, but received feedback that too many National Federations are facing difficult situations and restrictions within their countries.
AIBA Board of Directors in consensus with the Turkish National Federation thus decided to postpone the championships to March 2022.
‘We are aware that some teams have already started preparations for this event and will be disappointed. However, the safety and wellbeing of our athletes, officials and other stakeholders is priority, and therefore we cannot take the risk to proceed with the event’, AIBA President Umar Kremlev said.
