Tehran, Nov 26 (MNN) Iran’s goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand now in Guinness World Records for a longest hand throw in the sport, the country’s official news agency IRNA reported.
Beiranvand also plays as a goalkeeper for Portugal’s Boavista.
The 29-year-old — also the goalkeeper of Iran’s national football team aka Team Melli — set the record during a FIFA World Cup qualifying match against South Korea at the Azadi stadium on October 11, 2016, his Portuguese club said.
Team Melli was coached by Carlos Queiroz in the match that ended in Iran’s 1-0 victory.
Already know the world over for his throwing prowess, Beiranvand threw the ball 61m 26mm (or 200 feet 1.57 inches).
