Kejriwal promises free education, Rs 1 crore to kin of martyred soldiers, policemen in Punjab

Pathankot (Punjab), Dec 2 (MNN) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced free world-class education to every child in Punjab and Rs 1 crore each to kin of soldiers and police officials dying in the line of duty, if his Aam Aadmi Party was voted to power in the northern state.

Kejriwal said his “fourth guarantee” for Punjab was to overhaul Punjab’s schools and provide free world-class education just as his government had done in Delhi.

He said that he will ensure new schools of international standards are built and equal levels of education is provided to children of both the poor and the rich through government schools in Punjab.

His “fifth guarantee” was as to give Rs 1 crore each to martyred Army jawans or Punjab Police officials.

Taking a dig at his political detractors that he is dark- skinned, Kejriwal said: “I may be dark-skinned, but my heart is clear and intentions pure.”

As for Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s alleged remarks that he wore cheap clothes, the AAP leader asserted that he will be more than happy if his mothers and sisters in Punjab get to buy and wear new suits from Rs 1,000 per month he had promised to give them earlier when AAP forms the government in Punjab.

He took a dig at Channi and said he did not make false promises like the Punjab Chief Minister.

Kejriwal led a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ in Pathankot and appealed to Punjab voters to give AAP one chance to improve the state’s lot. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, MP Bhagwant Mann, Delhi MLA Raghav Chadha along with senior Punjab leaders Harpal Cheema and Kunwar Vijay Pratap accompanied him on the Yatra.
