Will fulfil Dr Ambedkar’s dreams, ensure quality education to SC children in Punjab: Kejriwal

Hoshiarpur, Dec 7 (MNN) In a bid to woo voters from the Scheduled Castes in Punjab, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday that he had taken a pledge to fulfil Dr BR Ambedkar’s dreams and promised ‘five guarantees’ for SC communities, including highest quality education to their children.

He lamented that he was deeply saddened that even after 75 years of independence, Dr Ambedkar’s dream of ensuring good education to every child in the country had not been fulfilled.

All the parties and leaders who have ruled Punjab till date have “deliberately ruined government schools” to prevent members of the Scheduled Castes from standing up to claim their right to equality, the Aam Aadmi Party leader said while addressing a SC Samman Sabha.

“If you vote for the Congress again in the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections, your children will continue to get cheated in the name of education; they (political rivals) have horrible intentions,” Kejriwal alleged.

“I have brought five essential guarantees for the Scheduled Caste communities — First, it is our responsibility to ensure that every single child from the community receives world-class education for free.

“Second, if a student from the SC communities wants to take coaching or prepare for IIT-JEE, NEET, Railways, UPSC or any other exam, the AAP government will take care of expenses, just like Delhi’s Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana.

“Third, if a child from the SC communities wants to go abroad for graduation or postgraduation, then too our party government will take care of expenses.

“Fourth, if someone from your family falls sick, no matter how small or costly the treatment is, our government will pay for it.

“Fifth, our party government will give Rs 1,000 per month to every woman aged 18 and above.”

He said that if the people from the weaker sections wished to ensure good education or their children, they have to vote for his party that stands for honesty and integrity and wishes to change the system.

“First, Captain (Amarinder Singh) sahib lied while distributing employment cards and now (Charanjit Singh) Channi sahib is fooling the people in the name of giving five-marla plots of land to the members of the SC communities,” the Delhi CM claimed .

The AAP national convenor first addressed women of the state at Sarai Khas near Kartarpur in Jalandhar district and started registration process for the promised monthly stipend of Rs 1,000 in case the AAP came to power in Punjab.

Later, he met members of the SC communities and addressed a gathering in Hoshiarpur. AAP MP Bhagwant Mann was present at these events.
