Delhi Teachers University to give global exposure to aspiring teachers: Sisodia

New Delhi, Jan 1 (MNN) The Delhi government is setting up a world-class Delhi Teachers’ University in Bakkarwala village in the national capital, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Saturday.

The varsity spread over 12 acres of land will admit 5,000 students from the 2022 session, he said, adding that the Avrind Kejriwal government will provide global exposure to aspiring teachers at the institution.

The four-storeyed Delhi Teachers’ University will have state-of-art classes, library, hall, computer labs, and conference room. The campus will be completed soon, Sisodia added.

He said that the Kejriwal government’s vision is to prepare teachers who are highly professional, well-educated, motivated and passionate to bring change in Indian education system.

The University will offer programmes like BA-BEd and BSc-Bed. It will be attached to Delhi government schools for their entire course to ensure hands-on experience to them with a strong emphasis on research.

In the meanwhile, endeavour is on to bring best of teachers who have worked with foreign universities to groom teachers in Delhi with world’s best practices.

The University will cater to the professional needs of both pre-service and in-service teachers, the Deputy CM said.
