Chandigarh, Jan 5 (MNN) After a war of words broke out over “major security lapse” during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ferozepur a day earlier, the Punjab government on Thursday set up a probe panel to investigate and submit a report in three days.
“In order to carry out a thorough probe into the lapses during the Prime Minister’s visit to Ferozepur, the Punjab government has constituted a high-level committee.
The panel comprising Justice Mehtab Singh Gill (retd) and Principal Secretary Home Anurag Verma shall submit its report within three days,” a state government spokesperson said.
Modi was stuck on a flyover for 15-20 minutes near Hussainiwala in Ferozepur district on Wednesday morning as a group of protesters blocked his convoy’s path, which the Indian government said was a “major security lapse”.
Even as a war of words ensued between the supporters of BJP as well as the Congress government in the state, the Home Ministry said that a report has been sought from the Channi government on the incident. The state government said there was no such security lapse.
