ECI announces seven-phase polling to cover all five states in 2022

ECI announced seven-phased Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, two-phased in Manipur and single-phased in Punjab, Uttarakhand and Goa.

New Delhi, Jan 8 (MNN) The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday announced a seven-phased Assembly elections in the country’s biggest state Uttar Pradesh, two-phased in Manipur and single-phased in Punjab, Uttarakhand and Goa.

Polling will be held on February 10, February 14, February 20, February 23, February 27, March 3 and March 7. Counting of votes will be taken up on March 10, the ECI said.

The first phase will start with the issuance of notification for the elections in Uttar Pradesh on January 14, Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra told the media here.

The nominations can be filed by January 21, scrutiny will take place on January 24, and last date for withdrawal will be January 27.

The polling in the first phase of UP elections will be held on February 10.

The dates for second phase of Assembly elections regarding notification, last date for filing nominations, scrutiny and withdrawal will be January 21, January 28, January 29 and January 31 respectively.

Polling in the second phase will be held on February 14 in Uttar Pradesh. Punjab, Uttarakhand and Goa will go to polls in this phase.

In the third phase, the polling will be held on February 20 in Uttar Pradesh only.

In the fourth phase, the notification will be issued on January 27, nominations can be filed by February 3, scrutiny will take place on February 4, and last date for withdrawal of nominations by February 7.

Polling in this phase will be held on February 23.

In the phase 5, the dates for issuance of notification, last date for filing of nominations, scrutiny, and last date of withdrawal is February 1, February 8, February 9 and February 11. The polling in this phase will be held on February 27 in Uttar Pradesh and Manipur, which will see first of the two phases of polling.

In the sixth phase, the pre-poll process dates are February 22, February 11, February 14 and February 16 respectively. In this phase, polls will be held on March 3 in Uttar Pradesh along with second phase in Manipur.

In the seventh and last phase, the pre-poll process dates are February 10, February 17, February 18 and February 21. Polling will be held on March 7.
