Over 2.47 lakh new coronavirus cases in India, 380 more deaths

India on Friday reported 2,64,202 new coronavirus cases even as 315 more deaths due to the virus were reported in the last 24-hour cycle

New Delhi, Jan 13 (MNN) As 2,47,417 new coronavirus cases were reported in India in the last 24 hours, 380 more deaths were reported while the vaccination coverage exceeded 154.61 crore doses during the period, the government said on Thursday.

The active caseload currently stands at 11,17,531, with Daily Positivity rate of 13.11 and a Weekly Positivity Rate of 10.80.

The active cases constitute 3.08 per cent of India’s total positive cases officially reported so far. India has so far reported 4,85,035 deaths (1.34 per cent of total cases) due to the virus, including 380 in the last 24-hour cycle.

Cases of Omicron infections total 5,488 at present, with 2,162 patients cured of the virus.

A total of 84,825 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally since the start of the pandemic to 3,47,15,361. The recovery rate is 95.59.

With the administration of 76,32,024 more vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, the total went up to 1,54,61,39,465 as per provisional reports till 7 am on Thursday.

A total of 1,03,89,656 healthcare workers were given the first dose during the period, and 97,62,630 the second dose. Those given the precaution dose total 12,31,290.

As many as 1,83,88,234 frontline workers too were given the first dose and 1,70,15,545 the second dose. The precaution doses total 8,02,342 in this category.

In the age group of 15-18, the first dose was given to 2,98,74,770 beneficiaries while the first dose in 18-44 age group total 51,99,17,611 and 36,06,28,410 the second dose.

In the 45-59 age group, the first dose beneficiaries total 19,68,29,458 and the 2nd dose 15,85,74,172.

To those over 60 years, first dose was given to 12,26,70,450 persons and the second dose to 9,94,15,144. The precaution doses total 6,39,753 in this category.

The precaution doses thus total 26,73,385 while the total doses comes to 1,54,61,39,465.

In the last 24 hours, 18,86,935 more tests were conducted in India, taking the total to over 69.73 crore (69,73,11,627) tests.
